Activities to do before you watch Moana 2 with your unit
Work towards your programme awards with these Moana themed activities
Ready to get into the Moana 2 spirit?
The weather might be getting cooler in the UK but at Girlguiding, we’re ready to channel the tropical climate of Motunui – the island Moana calls home.
Special Girlguiding screenings of Disney’s Moana 2 will take over an ODEON cinema near you on 7 and 8 December 2024. A big thank you to all of our volunteers who are planning unit trips and to our friends at ODEON for helping to make unforgettable memories for girls.
Tickets go on sale 30 October at 12pm via our fortnightly marketing newsletter for volunteers. Make sure you’ve opt in to receive marketing communications. You can check your preferences in GO.
Activities to do in our programme
We all know and love Moana for showing us there’s always an adventure to be had. Whether it’s sailing the tropical seas of Oceania, making new and unexpected friends or following your deepest passion, Moana shows girls how they can forge their own path and discover amazing things about themselves along the way.
Our programme is full of activities you can do with your unit that embody Moana’s spirit and gets girls excited for our screenings.
If you want to choose your own activities, look at the following themes to set the Moana mood:

Interest badges
With these interest badges, you’ll unleash your inner Moana by exploring nature, travelling to new places or even uncovering a forgotten part of history. Or you might choose to dive deep into your family history and what makes you unique.
- Rainbows – nature, family tree.
- Brownies – archaeologist, local history.
- Guides – navigator, personal brand, geocaching.
- Rangers – travel, genealogy.
Did you know interest badges can now be done in units as well as at home? When we reviewed our programme, girls told us they enjoy interest badges more when they get to do them with others. So we’ve made them more flexible, and girls can now complete them with whoever they like! Including girls in their unit, family and friends. That means girls in your unit could team up and complete one together in the run-up to our screenings!
Look out for more interest badges coming in 2025.
