Wild wax

Have you ever designed your own candle? Find out how to using a variety of natural items to turn a plain candle into a bespoke home accessory.

What you need:

  • Natural items you have collected
  • A plain pillar candle
  • White tissue paper – or the same colour as the candle
  • Scissors
  • Wax crayons
  • Baking paper
  • Hair dryer
  • Newspaper to cover surfaces

Magicians don’t often reveal their secrets, but you’ll find them here! This video will teach you how to amaze your friends and family with a little bit of magic.

What you need:

  • Envelope
  • Scissors
  • Paper 
  • Pen
  • Ruler
  • Tape

Solar simulation

It’s getting hot in here! Discover how the Sun works by creating a scientific eruption, you’re going to make your very own lava lamp!

What you need:

  • A plastic bottle (at least 0.5 litres)
  • Water
  • Food colouring
  • Vegetable oil
  • 4 antacid tablets
  • A teaspoon
  • A torch
  • A funnel (optional)

Ask an adult to find the resources for this activity and do not drink the liquid or any of the ingredients.
