Brownies meet HRH The Princess Royal
presented HRH The Princess Royal with flowers during her visit to a
local charity shop. Lucy and Tiana, from 11th Cheam Brownies, gave
the bouquet at the Save the Children shop in Cheam Village,
Their unit has had a long association with the charity and has
raised money in a variety of ways – from carol singing to
accompanying adult fundraisers at Christmas and Easter while
dressed up as rabbits and elves.
‘We felt it was a great honour when Ray Casey, the manager of the
Cheam shop, asked if two of the Brownies would like to present the
flowers,’ said unit Leader Jane Morrison.
‘Although the girls were a little nervous at first, they soon
started to enjoy the excitement of the visit and Princess Anne
spent some time chatting to us, both before and after her tour of
the shop, where she met many of the volunteers. She was charming,
interested and appreciative of all the fundraising that is done by
so many local people on behalf of the Save the Children charity’.
