What girls in Brownies should wear for unit meetings and Girlguiding events
What Brownies wear
Girls in Brownies wear a practical uniform that is designed to suit their adventurous programme items.
All girls should have a uniform top and bottom chosen from the following items:
These items are also appropriate for events where formal uniform is required.
Girls may choose to have additional items from our range of clothing for Brownies, for example baseball caps, but these are not considered uniform.
Neckerchiefs are optional for Brownies. If your unit chooses to wear them then girls can choose from the range sold by Trading Services.
At international events, Brownies can wear the UK international neckerchief along with, or instead of, a national neckerchief for either Girlguiding Cymru, Scotland or Ulster.

Follow these guidelines for displaying badges on Brownie uniform:
- Promise badges - wear on a sash or on the left-hand side - closest to the heart. Girls should be given a metal pin Promise badge on making her Promise not a woven trefoil badge.
- Sash, gilets or skorts - are usually used to display badges.
- Union Flag Badge (order code 4079) - this badge should be worn at international events on the left shoulder of the uniform top.
Only woven badges for participation or achievement should be sewn onto Brownie uniform
