Recruitment check process

For safeguarding purposes, anyone over 18 who wishes to volunteer for Girlguiding must complete our recruitment process

Our recruitment process is in place to safeguard our members

All adult members, and recognised volunteers over the age of 18 in an active role in guiding, must complete the recruitment process relevant to them.

Our recruitment process includes a disclosure check and reference checks. ID Verifiers are responsible for completing these checks.

Disclosure checks

Disclosure checks look at your criminal record. You will be required to complete one if you wish to volunteer in a way that involves unsupervised access or staying overnight at a residential event with girls and young women.

Reference checks

All individuals over 18 who are new to guiding, in any role, must complete the reference check process.

Guidance for ID Verifiers

Local ID Verifiers are responsible for completing disclosure checks in their area and monitoring their progress.
