What do you think of our training materials?
Deborah Lodge updates us on the training pilot and how you can have your say on training in the future
Mix together buckets of excitement, a little trepidation, lots of leaders keen to learn and sprinkle with a trainer or two.
And you have the perfect recipe for new programme training, especially when served with tea and a slice of cake!
One of the things I enjoy most about being a trainer is travelling to different events to meet and work with other leaders. As we countdown to the reveal of our new programme on 21 July, the programme renewal and learning and development volunteer teams have been travelling around the UK to update leaders and answer questions. The response has been fantastic and everywhere we go there is excitement and eager anticipation of what’s to come.
At the beginning of April, we started piloting the new programme training resources. I’m really pleased to say that those of you who have attended a pilot training have said that it was “informative”, “interesting”, “supportive” and “exciting”. You’ve also told us that there are some key areas that you would like more detail on and we’re amending the final resources to reflect as much of your feedback as possible. We really appreciate the feedback you’re sending in – so please keep it coming. It helps us to adapt the resources and learn how to support you in the future. I would like to say a massive thank you to all leaders and trainers who are involved in the pilot process!
I can’t wait for all of the training resources to become available from reveal of the new programme. This will involve all of the face to face modules, e-learning opportunities and webinars (for more on what will be available see my March blog). Trainers will receive the resources to support them with face to face trainings in early July, ahead of the programme being revealed, so they can familiarise themselves ahead of any planned trainings.
Evaluating our training materials
Recently, the e-learning resources have been really taking shape. A team of volunteers and staff, including myself, have been working to make them something that all leaders will be able to use whenever we need, to both discover the programme and refresh our knowledge!
Excitingly, we’re working to carry out a detailed evaluation of the training we’re developing. This will help you to tell us which learning resources can support you best in the years ahead and ensure that the valuable time you spend training is used effectively. To make the evaluation a success we will need your feedback. If you’re interested in helping us with this, please complete this survey and we’ll be in touch with further details. For the first time we are working with two external partners, Westminster Business School at the University of Westminster, together with the CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development to ensure that we make the most of this opportunity to support and help you in the future.
Don’t forget to keep your pilot feedback coming in via the survey links provided but also don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at [email protected] if you have any other comments or questions.
