The Membership Recruitment team

We're developing new ways to recruit - and keep - volunteers. Meet our team and hear about our current projects

Our team is working on innovative ways to support the growth of our membership

In the Membership Recruitment team, we support our volunteers with the recruitment and retention of members.

We aim to grow the number of people who are involved in guiding and to make sure they all have a good experience with us. In other words, we're here to help you get new adults and girls to become part of guiding and to make sure they stay.

Meet some of the team and get some insight into our current projects and future plans.

Alice

Membership Recruitment Coordinator

I'm consulting with parents to find out what they really want to know when their daughter joins us so we can improve their welcome packs. I'm currently looking at the design. Next up I'll be working with teams around HQ on what goes inside.

I'm also looking at how we can give girls not yet placed in a unit a great taste of what Girlguiding is all about. Next I'll be going out to discuss our findings with members and get their opinions.

I like to bake, eat and run. Not in that order.

Membership Recruitment Assistant

I am creating a support resource to help Leaders and Commissioners solve any issues that might prevent a unit from staying open. I'm using feedback from the recent Uniformed Youth Social Action Fund project and some research we completed in consultation with members.

I look after the Growing Guiding Twitter and I'm a dedicated Brownie Leader.

Inclusion Project Coordinator

I work to make sure that all our volunteers are supported with the information and resources they need to make guiding available to all girls. At the moment I’m looking at how we can work more with other expert charities to support our members and how we can provide more support at a local level.

Outside of guiding I'm a composer and sound designer, where I focus on engaging new audiences with electronic music, my most recent project was an interactive, musical blanket fort in East London!

Tamsin

Tamsin

Membership Recruitment Manager

I oversee all of the projects in the Membership Recruitment team, in partnership with Kim Whitmore and Fliss Callanan our Lead and Deputy Lead Volunteers for Membership Growth and Retention. It's up to me to ensure that we are all working together to pilot new initiatives that will help local guiding recruit and retain members.

I'm also a flying enthusiast, tennis player and hiker.

Lead Volunteer Membership Growth and Retention

I am currently working on a toolkit to support trainers to deliver sessions on membership growth. This resource will help Trainers to plan and deliver training sessions on all aspects of growth from adult and girl recruitment, promoting guiding externally, inclusion, flexibility, mapping and retention. Growth happens at local level and we want all Commissioners and Leaders to have the tools, ideas and enthusiasm to do this.

I enjoy dancing around my handbag and going for afternoon tea!

Fliss

Fliss

Deputy Lead Volunteer Membership Growth and Retention

I am currently working on a toolkit to support volunteers to deliver high-quality assemblies in primary and secondary schools. This resource will help planning, delivery and follow-up recruitment in a school environment. It will include example PowerPoint presentations and videos aimed directly at the girls.

I love baking cakes and travelling (although not at the same time - it just makes a mess)!

Improving Access to Guiding (IA2G) Project Manager

I head up the IA2G project. I'm usually juggling spreadsheets and reports or staying in touch with everyone involved, from local volunteers to the Pears Foundation. I'm passionate about volunteers and volunteering and am excited to get more adults into Girlguiding!

I’ve run a half-marathon across a frozen lake in Siberia.

Sarah

Sarah

IA2G Project Coordinator (Recruitment and Induction)

I work closely with our local volunteers to guarantee our newest adult members are given the warmest of welcomes. As someone with lots of experience volunteering, I hope to ensure that our new recruits receive a high-quality, beneficial induction when they start.

I own a toy penguin who travels the world and has over 2600 followers on Instagram.

Louise

Louise

IA2G Project Coordinator (Training and Placement)

I was previously part of the UYSAF Project and I'm really excited to be working again to create more opportunities for volunteers and girls to join Girlguiding. I'm making sure our volunteers get to access to as many learning opportunities as possible, and that they're matched with the right roles.

To relax, I love to swim, bake or chill out in the garden with a good book.
