More ideas and resources

Our friends and partners have some great activities and ideas to share

Lots of our friends and partners are sharing great resources for keeping busy and healthy during the lockdown.

We're supported by a host of amazing businesses and organisations, who provide us with everything from research support to equipment for our outdoor adventures. Many of them have offered their very own brilliant resources for girls, young women, volunteers and parents to support our Adventures at home activities.

There will be more to come, so please check back to this page as our partners continue to add their continued support to our Adventures at home.

DePuy Synthes

DePuy Synthes have been manufacturing and innovating medical equipment since 1895. Since 2019 DePuy Synthes have also been the official sponsor of the Inventing interest badge for Brownies and are super keen to see everyone’s innovative inventions!

Together we are inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and inventors to learn about the amazing inventions of history and to look to the future. DePuy Synthes have developed some fun activities for us to learn about inventing, manufacturing and designing new tools. Download their egg drop challenge and help Sally the skeleton activities.

Google

Google are passionate about ‘making technology for everyone’. Together, we’re inspiring girls to explore technology. One of the ways we’re doing this is with the Digital design interest badge for Rangers, which was created with support from Google to help girls develop their digital skills and confidence.

Did you know that engineers at Google also created the Google’s Digital Adventure activity pack for Brownies? It’s fun to do whether you’re a beginner or experienced when it comes to computer skills. You’ll have the chance to create a robot and think about what instructions you’d give it to help it do a task – like tidying your bedroom! Remember once completed, we have a special Digital Adventure badge too!

ODEON

At Girlguiding we like big, fun adventures and sometimes that includes taking over more than 100 cinemas across the UK for amazing films screenings just for our members! We are working with our friends at ODEON to give Girlguiding members exclusive experiences and the chance to watch the best films with their guiding friends. ODEON have shared these fun activities for us to enjoy.

Did you see Mary's Magic Movie or Elsas Enchanted Screening? What do you think we should watch together next? #ForTheLoveOfFilm

Rolls-Royce

Scientists and engineers at Rolls-Royce are working to make things possible which have never been possible before by ‘pioneering the power that matters’ to meet our planet’s vital power needs. By working with them we’re inspiring girls and young women to explore engineering and technology and the positive difference it can make to the environment and society.

Rolls-Royce co-sponsor Girlguiding’s Innovate skills builder. They’ve recently created badge booster activities for girls that have completed stages 2, 4 or 6. Download the activities below:

The Royal Air Force

The Royal Air Force (RAF) is always developing new and exciting technology. So, with the RAF’s expert knowledge we’ve worked together to create a new STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) focused unit meeting activity topic, Magnificent Machines.

We work with the RAF to empower girls to learn life skills in STEM, by creating amazing activities and experiences. You can find out more about the RAF and enjoy some of their own STEM based activities on their RAF Youth site.

The Royal Astronomical Society (RAS)

The RAS may not have been around long compared to the moon and the stars but they do have a very impressive 200 year history! From how rain falls and why the earth spins, to understanding space travel and mapping galaxies; the RAS loves everything in and out of this world.

We are working with our friends at RAS to give Girlguiding members across the UK the chance to discover just how much is out there and ask those big questions we all have about the universe and everything! Explore their activities now

Please note these activities are not connected to our Space interest badge.

We’re also supported by charities and organisations who provide us with their expertise and top tips to make our resources as accurate and fun as possible.

Many of our expert partners also have their own fantastic resources and activities they want to share with you to explore online.

Alzheimer’s Society

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. In response to Covid-19, Alzheimer’s Society has launched a fun and engaging Activities and action toolkit (ages 5-18) for leaders, teachers, parents and guardians.

Through this toolkit, adults and children can work together to learn more and take action to support people with dementia during these unprecedented times. It also signposts to Girlguiding resources from our Better Together unit meeting activity topic that Girlguiding and Alzheimer’s Society developed and launched in partnership.

With 95% of people with dementia over 65 and many living with underlying conditions and reliant on social care, people with dementia are currently at significant risk, with thousands being cut-off from vital networks of support and from society. Download the toolkit today!
