Information about the trek
This is a once in a life time opportunity to discover the world and yourself.
We'll trek across coffee plantations and oak forests into dense tropical rainforest, taking in Costa Rica’s highest active volcano. Costa Rica’s rainforests are world-famous for their diversity, making this is an incredible opportunity to experience one of the world’s most incredible eco-systems. All while raising money for the UK’s leading charity for girls and young women.
You’ll be taking on a challenging walk over a range of wild terrain, see our training plan for this trip.

What will my fundraising total cover?

- All meals (except three as specified in the itinerary).
- Group leaders, a doctor, cooks and drivers, who will all support you on the trek Safety equipment and instruction, plus any entrance fees to reserves and sites on the trek itinerary.
How fit do you need to be?
This trek is designed to be challenging, but you don’t have to be super fit to take part. It’s achievable for most people provided you train well in advance. See our training guide for more advice.
Can I do this on my own?
Yes! When you sign up, you’ll get access to our group Facebook page to talk to your fellow trekkers and make friends. We’ll also have a trek briefing day where you will meet everyone before you travel. Lots of our groups continue to be friends after the trip has ended and have even been on more treks.

Emma, 32 Previous challenge participant who trekked to Machu Picchu
Taking on my trek changed my life. I am now more confident (and fitter) than I was before I went to Peru. Every time I think about it, it makes me feel good about myself and spurs me on to try new things. I cannot describe how amazing it was. Thank you Girlguiding.
