Information about the trek

We will trek across coffee plantations and oak forests into dense tropical rainforest, taking in Costa Rica’s highest active volcano. Costa Rica’s rainforests are world-famous for their diversity – and this is an incredible opportunity to experience one of the world’s most incredible eco-systems, all while raising money for the UK’s leading charity for girls and young women.

This is a tough, strenuous challenge over a range of wild terrain – it’s adventurous, rewarding and a world away from the norm!

How do I reach my fundraising target?

Your fundraising target and registration fee are broken down into two payments:

  • First payment - £2880 (80% of target) by 15 August 2018
  • Second payment - £720 (20% of target) by 15 October 2018

You’ll receive a supporter pack when you sign up, chock full of fundraising ideas to get you started. Our dedicated fundraising team can also help you create a tailored fundraising plan to support you in reaching your goal.

Book before 31 December 2017 to receive £50 off your registration fee.

What will my fundraising total cover?

The £3600 includes your donation to Girlguiding and all travel between London and San Jose. It also covers your accommodation and all meals (except 3 as specified in the itinerary).
Group leaders, a doctor, cooks and drivers, will all support you on the trek and the cost includes these.
It also covers safety equipment and instruction, plus any entrance fees to reserves and sites on the trek itinerary

How fit do you need to be?

This trek is designed to be challenging for those of good health and fitness and is achievable for most people provided they train well in advance. After you have signed up we will supply you with a thorough training guide.

Can I do this on my own?

Yes! When you sign up, you’ll get access to our group Facebook page to talk to your fellow trekkers and make friends. We’ll also have a trek briefing day where you will meet everyone before you travel.

The best bit for me was meeting wonderful people from all over the UK and climbing Dead Women’s Pass, which I didn’t think I would accomplish.
