SGN are working with Girlguiding to help girls understand gas and carbon monoxide safety
SGN is sharing its industry expertise with our girls
SGN has teamed up with Girlguiding to inspire the next generation of engineers, and help girls understand gas and carbon monoxide safety.
Together with Girlguiding, SGN is inspiring young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
How we work together
During our partnership with SGN, we have collaborated to:
- create Walk on the Safe Side - a resource on home safety that supports the Guides' Active response badge
- launch an online game for Brownies
- run workshops at our Activity Centres and national events on gas safety and careers in STEM.
We also take part in an annual carbon monoxide (CO) awareness competition where SGN, along with other gas distribution networks, offer our Rainbows and Brownies the opportunity to win hundreds of pounds for themselves and their unit - just by making art.
Anyone between the ages of 5 and 11 can enter the competition and just need to submit a poster, poem, video or cartoon focused raising awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide. It’s a great way for our Leaders to get girls across the UK interested in gas safety - whilst making a mess with glitter, paint and pom-poms!
