The Role

We’re at an exciting point in our journey to transform volunteer learning and development at Girlguiding UK (one of the UK’s leading youth charities). As we look to reach all volunteers with engaging, impactful and accessible learning, we’re looking for an instructional designer who will hit the ground running and play a key role in helping us to achieve our vision. You will contribute to our L&D strategy and support us to champion and enhance the learner experience in everything that we do.  Working collaboratively with volunteers and other stakeholders, you will lead on the design and delivery of learning solutions for a range of volunteer audiences, in response to the identified learning needs. This role also offers the opportunity to establish and embed learning design principles and processes within the team, as well as coach and support colleagues to use these.

You’ll have technical expertise in instructional learning design and a strong track record of producing and curating high-quality content across a range of formats (digital and face to face). You’ll also have a solid understanding of adult learning theory and learning design principles, which you’ll combine with innovative and creative thinking, and a willingness to try something new. You’ll also be familiar with different design tools and software (ie Evolve and Adobe Creative Suite).

Girlguiding values the differences that a diverse workforce brings and is committed to inclusivity, and to employing and supporting a diverse workforce. Girlguiding is proud to be part of the Stonewall Diversity Champions programme, a member of the Business Disability Forum, and a member of Time to Change – improving attitudes towards mental health. While Girlguiding’s young members may be girl only, our staff team is mixed gender. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of age, disability (physical or mental), gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
