The official BIG GIG report 2007

BIG GIG 2007 crowdWhat do you get if you cross 25,000 screaming, bunny-ear wearing Guides with eight of the UK's top pop acts? The BIG GIG 2007 that's what!

The most poptastic event for 2007 kicked off with the much-loved McFly, a group that Guides all over the UK have wanted to see at the BIG GIG since 2004.

A Guide holding a banner saying 'We love you McFly'As the funky foursome warbled hits such as 'It's all about you', 'Five colours in her hair', and a cover of Rihanna's number one single 'Umbrella', the Guides went wild, waving multi-coloured glowsticks and banners, proclaiming their undying love for the group, high in the air.

Presenter Stephen Mulhern was next on stage. The ITV1 presenter danced around on stage to the Spice Girls 'Wannabe' whilst an army of Guides sang along with the fab five's most famous tune.

Ex-Girl Scout Amerie was next on stage, shaking her booty to her catchy R'n'B hits like 'Take Control' and '1 Thing'. At the end of her act, Amerie tells the crowd to keep on doing all the wonderful positive things that they have been doing. You have been told!

Iwrin from The HoosiersThe Hoosiers appeared next, and the girls went wild! Every Guide sang along to their debut single 'Worried about Ray', a single that caused one Guide unit to make a banner saying 'We're worried about Ray too!' Last but not least is the trio's latest single, 'Goodbye Mr A', but as singer Irwin says, a good bye is better than a bad bye...

Next up is the first of our Guiding Star winners, Samantha Laurilla. This 18 year old starlet, dressed in the most gorgeous cream dress, amazed the crowd with her rendition of Alicia Keys 'If I ain't got you'.

Queen of the dance scene, Sophie Ellis Bextor was next up, in a black jump suit and killer Prada heels. She boogied on stage to past hits 'Murder on the Dancefloor' and 'Groovejet' as well as recent chart hit 'Catch You'. As an ex member of the Woodcraft Folk, Sophie confesses that she was never a Guide, but asks the hyped up crowd of Guides if they can initiate her. With a resounding scream of yeahs, Sophie Ellis-Bextor became a fully-fledged Guide.

Guiding Star judge Sinead Quinn takes to the stage and splits the crowd of girls to create their own rendition of 'I love Rock and Roll'. The crowd erupts in a fury of screams as the competing sides battle to sing the loudest.

Isabella StocchettiThe next act to grace the BIG GIG stage was 14 year old Isabella Stocchetti, the other winner of the Guiding Star competition. Screams echoed around as she took to the stage, but there was a noticeable hush as she started singing Delta Goodrem's 'Together we are one'.

Swedish sensation Robyn tells the crowd that they all look beautiful in their bunny ears and gives the crowd a sneak peek at her new single 'Handle Me'. She ends her set with chart-topper 'Every Heartbeat' which she dedicates to the Wrafton Guides.

He freely admits to liking all the girls, so surely performing at the BIG GIG 2007 must have been a dream come true for Calvin Harris? The Scottish lad, famed for his hits 'Acceptable in the Eighties' and 'The Girls' had the Guides screaming and waving their hands frantically in the air. He belted out his new single 'Merrymaking at my Place' to a chorus of delighted Guides.

Natasha BedingfieldAs soon as Natasha Bedingfield starts singing her most-loved tune 'These Words' the crowd sings along with her, even placing in her infamous 'uh-ohs'. Natasha retaliated by fitting 'I love you Girl Guides' within the lyrics. This was followed by a few other tracks of her album, and she finished with hit single 'Unwritten' which got the girls up and swaying to the rhythm.

Stephen Mulhern sings his very own rendition of 'Is this the way to Amarillo', echoing Tony Christie's performance at the BIG GIG 2005. He then announces the final act, MySpace phenomenon Kate Nash, and the girls scream in anticipation.

Kate Nash site behind a piano and belts out tunes from her debut album 'Made from Bricks'. These include the new single 'Mouthwash' as well as Kate's most popular tune 'Foundations'. At the end of the song, confetti is fired and blown into the excitable crowd and Kate thanks the audience as she leaves the stage.
