Brownie wear and badges

3waysA Brownie chooses her outfit from a range of section wear. The clothes are designed for having fun and are stylish, practical and economical. There is something to suit every Brownie whatever she is doing, indoors or out – so she is bound to find something she will love to wear.

A Brownie does not have to wear the same combination of garments as others in her unit. Your daughter's Leader should let you know in advance about what she should wear for certain activities or in particular weather conditions - this may not always be Brownie wear.

The full range of Brownie wear can be found in the Guiding Essentials catalogue. Buying Brownie wear from the Girlguiding UK Trading Service, our online shop, or at your local shop or depot benefits guiding across the country. All items are machine washable.

Brownie section wearBadges

How Brownies display their interest badges is up to each girl. Many Brownies sew them on their gilet top. Others choose to wear them on a sash, or keep them safe in their Brownie Promise Box or a scrapbook.

There is no specific position for Brownie badges to be worn on the sash or the gilet. Most Brownies wear their Promise badge on the right and their Six badge on the left. The unit name tape is often worn on the right shoulder.

Brownies and their Leaders may wish to decide in a Pow-wow (planning meeting) where to wear badges.

Neckerchiefs
At a Pow-wow Brownies decide whether or not they may wear a neckerchief as a unit. If they decide to, it is up to each individual Brownie to choose whether or not she wishes to wear one.
