Why work for Girlguiding UK?

As the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, Girlguiding UK employs over 200 staff at our Commonwealth Headquarters in London, our Trading Service in Altrincham, the Liverpool shop and our various Training and Activities Centres throughout the UK.

What we offer you

Girlguiding UK is an organisation committed to the development of its members, and developing our staff is a key priority too. Each member of staff has a set of Work plan objectives and a personal development plan which are devised at induction and reviewed in regular one-to-one sessions. These objectives feed into the probationary review and, in turn, the annual appraisal process.

We offer a comprehensive induction programme which aims at developing an understanding of Girlguiding UK’s structure, function, Vision and Mission. The programme is carried out through a series of activities such as the initial welcome talk with Human Resources, departmental inductions and a more formal induction seminar.  In addition all new staff are provided with a buddy, who will take you out to lunch and help you settle in.

We offer a wide range of learning and development opportunities, running in-house courses such as Project management, and Recruitment and selection workshops as well as other training. Girlguiding UK encourages self-development and provides support for staff to improve their skills and qualifications. For those wishing to undertake work-related training and development, our Assisted study programme enables staff to take advantage of time off for their studies as well as gives a financial contribution to the costs of study.
