Meet the Innovate Wroughton Planning Team
Team Wroughton

These are the people delivering Innovate Wroughton to you.

CathyChair

Cathy looks after both Planning Teams. As the Chair, she also sits on Girlguiding UK’s Executive Committee and Council as part of their role.

Originally hailing from Bristol, Cathy has recently moved to Reading where she works as an Electrical Engineer in an energy company.

She’s a Guide Leader in Reading and enjoys working with the girls to find interesting topics for evening meetings and day adventures away! To unwind she enjoys a good book in her garden, teaching her cats to climb trees or meeting up with friends for a good natter!

FiVice Chair

Fiona is the Vice Chair of the Innovate Wroughton Planning Team. Having started out as a ‘normal’ planning team member she is fast approaching her third and final event on the planning team!

She spent most of her life in Milton Keynes but is now  studying for a PGCE in Early Years Education at the University of Cambridge.

She is a Rainbow Leader and Senior Section Advisor as well as an In4mer, and likes sticking with glue and sparkly things.  Coxing and the arts are both big things for her, and she can often be seen dotting up around the country with different orchestras and ensembles. However, she is a quiet person at heart and is most happy making cakes, reading and sleeping!

Administration

JeanetteJeanette is in charge of the admin for the Wroughton event, which means amongst other things she has the job of producing the minutes from all of the meetings and producing the letters that get sent to all participants.

She lives in Somerset with her parents on a Dairy Farm and works in an office of small supermarket. She is currently doing an Open University course in order to gain a degree in Business Studies.

She’s an assistant Brownie Leader with a unit in her village and enjoys playing games with them and getting covered in glitter and glue when they get the craft box out. She is also a Ranger and an active In4mer.

In her spare time (if she gets any) she likes going to the cinema and reading – especially Harry Potter books. She has sadly yet to finish reading the Order of the Phoenix, so please don’t tell her what happens in the end.

Entertainments Coordinator

AmyAmy is from Bristol, athough at the moment she is studying Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham University.

She is a Rainbow and Guide Leader and will soon be a Ranger Leader, she's aalso an In4mer and has recently obtained her Gold Duke of Edinburgh and Queen’s Guide Awards.  She also runs Senior Section events within her County and is the founder of the local Division Pantomime.

In her spare time she writes pantomimes and stories, sings, plays her violin, is hockey captain for one university society and plays netball for two others.  She is on the Easter Ball committee at Uni.

Entertainments Coordinator

TashaTasha is one of the entertainment coordinators for the Wroughton event. This involves making sure everyone feels welcomed on the Friday night and having a good shimmy shake on the dance floor on Saturday night.

Now a graduate, she's moved back home to the back of beyond a.k.a. Pembrokeshire, Wales. This is not very handy for planning meetings in London - or anywhere in fact!

Tasha is a Guide Leader, Senior Section member and is currently working towards her Queen's guide and Commonwealth Awards.

When she's not guiding (five per cent of her time?) she enjoys photography, scrapbooking, socialising and obsessing over anything with butterflies on it!

Why Don't You.. Coordinator

AlliAlison Bond is one of two people organising the YDU’s for Innovate Wroughton.

She is a student at the University of Wales Institute, studying Applied Human Nutrition and Dietetics.  She will graduate in 2009 as a qualified dietitian.  Hoping to use this degree to work in the sports dietetics field, she has her sights set on the 2012 Olympics!

In her guiding life she is a Brownie and Guide Assistant Leader in Surrey where she is also a Ranger and is currently working on her Queens Guide Award, due to finish soon.

She has been a member of the planning team since December 2006 and is looking forward to helping to run her first event!

Why Don't You... Coordinator

LauraLaura is on the Innovate Wroughton planning team and is jointly responsible for planning the Why Don’t You sessions. This is her final event for the Innovate team having previously been responsible for APWs at Innovate Ulster.

Laura is a Ranger Leader for Girlguiding Croydon, and enjoys several residentials with her girls throughout the year.

In her non-Guiding life, Laura is a trainee Social Worker.  She is also studying part-time to gain her degree in Social Work.  Currently she works with children and families in need of support.  Outside of work Laura can normally be found scrapbooking, horse-riding or generally lazing about!

Jess

PR

Jess is a Brownie Leader both at home in Wales, and in Cambridge, where she is studying for a Geography degree.  She is hoping for a career in the marketing and communications industry and is currently County PR Adviser and a national media spokesperson for Girlguiding UK.

This is Jess’ second event as a member of the Innovate Planning team, now looking after the PR for the event – designing posters, stickers and flyers to promote Innovate at every opportunity to Senior Section members all over the UK.  In her spare time, she enjoys going to the cinema and also coxes a rowing team!

Kel

Venue and Finance

Kel is 23 years old and lives in a small village near Andover in Hampshire.

She is responsible for venue and finance on the Wroughton planning team.

In the guiding world Kel is a Brownie Unit Leader, Guide Assistant Leader and a Ranger. She gained her Queen's Guide Award in 2006 and is currently the Hampshire North Queen’s Guide Advisor.

In the real world Kel works for the NHS as a Medical Secretary - a job that she really enjoys, working for a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist and the Community Mental Health Team for the Elderly based at Thatcham in Berkshire.

Kel has a pet Guinea Pig called Rufus (who is really fluffy and cute!) and loves going camping, both with her family and with guiding. Kel’s favourite colour is pink and she likes to ‘pinkify’ everywhere she goes!

Fringe Coordinator Ellie

Ellie is the fringe coordinator for the Wroughton event. This involves recruiting visitors to hold stands at the event to give you an insight into opportunities guiding and non-guiding.

A brummy at heart, who has moved around during her five student years and finally settled in Swansea (for a short while!) whilst she completes her training to become an audiological scientist.

Ellie is a Guide Leader, Beaver Scout Leader and is working on her Queen’s Guide Award. She has been a leader of all guiding sections but has settled on Guides for the moment!

Ellie’s spare time is predominantly occupied with rats; she’s treasurer for North of England rat society, general show secretary for Midlands rat club, a National fancy rat society varieties judge, and she also breeds rats and is working towards her rats being good enough to gain her rattery it’s stud name.
