Key facts about Women in the Lead

Over two thirds of award-winning women – across all sectors – have previously been involved with Girlguiding UK, as a Brownie, Guide or member of the Senior Section.

Over three quarters of the respondents felt that having access to girl-only spaces helps young women become more successful in later life.

Just under nine in ten of the award-winning women surveyed said that if they had a daughter, they would like her to be in guiding.

Of those previously involved in guiding, 73 per cent feel that their experience of guiding directly contributed to their success.

Over three quarters felt that they learned to care more for others.

Guiding helped 72 per cent to grow in confidence.

Over half felt they learned leadership skills – with 70 per cent valuing the responsibility they were given.

Almost three quarters felt that guiding gave them the courage and self-belief to try new things.

A massive 87 per cent of respondents said that they learned to work as part of a team.
