New crew joins the Ultimate Tall Ship
Adventure voyage
A group of Girlguiding UK members have joined the latest
leg of the Ultimate Tall Ship Adventure – an epic 100-day voyage
sailing around Britain.
The 30 participants departed from London for
the sixth stage of the adventure, which has so far visited Glasgow,
Oban, Aberdeen, Newcastle and Boston since it began last month.
Around 400 members will sail on board the Lord
Nelson, grouped as 10 different crews in 10 different legs.
The ship, owned by the Jubilee Sailing Trust,
is one of only two worldwide built to accommodate participants of
all physical abilities and allow them to play a full part in a
voyage.
Many other adventures activities have been
running to mark the Centenary. Young women from across the UK have
jetted off to destinations such as Botswana, Uzbekistan and Mexico,
and many more have signed-up for local-level events.
Liz Burnley, Girlguiding UK Chief Guide, said:
‘The continuing Ultimate Tall Ship Adventure sums up what
Girlguiding UK’s Centenary celebrations have been all about – a
huge adventure for us all and one which we will never forget.’
