Members trek across Europe for Centenary
Hundreds of Girlguiding UK members have embarked on a trek
across Europe in celebration of the guiding
Centenary.
300 young women from the Senior Section are
taking part in the Centenary Stampede, which challenges them to
travel the continent and complete tasks in every country they
visit.
The event began at the British Embassy in
Paris last week and - after meeting the British Ambassador - the
participants set off in groups around Europe.
They will return to the UK on 10 August,
having completed a number of challenges en route.
Other adventures that have taken place during
the Centenary year include trips as far a field as the Falkland
Islands, Botswana and the Arctic.
Liz Burnley, Girlguiding UK Chief
Guide, said: ‘A huge part of being involved in guiding is the
chance for our girls and young women to have a go at something
exciting alongside a group of friends.’
