Are you one of our Facebook competition winners?

Facebook profile imageAt the beginning of August, we launched a competition for those who 'like' our fan page on Facebook. The prize was a copy of our Centenary documentary ‘100 years of the Girl Guides’ on DVD.

For every week in August, we published a question as our Facebook page status and you posted your stories as comments.

We've picked our winners, mainly by how many 'likes' the received from our other fans, as well as on originality, humour and dedication.

Here are the original questions and the winning answers.

What has been your Centenary mountain-top moment so far?

Winner - Dorothy Edwards

Having a go on the bungee trampoline at the Centenary camp at Harewood and doing a backwards roll. To the teenagers who were finding it easy this may not have been a great deal, but to a 40yr old who hates heights and never goes on fairground rides this was a huge achievement (a lot of thanks must go to my friend who did it at the same time - we encouraged each other to have a go! - and thanks also to the very patient instructors).

What do you think guiding will be like in 100 years?

Winner - Tracey Leverett

I think the uniform will have changed the most. Technology will have developed a uniform that can self-mend when torn, cleans itself without having to be put into the wash and is utterly stain-proof, instantly looses any crinkles & creases the moment it is worn, automatically imprints itself with the name of its owner but changes if passed on, grows with the child and adheres its own badges on at a touch!

What’s the funniest thing you’ve heard a Girlguiding UK member say?

Winner - Seonaidh Hayton

At a service station near Kent, on the way to Italy, I bought a chocolate brownie. The GIC comes running up to me shouting 'Headline, Guide eats Brownie!'

What do you love most about being a volunteer/supporter of Girlguiding UK?

Winner - Christine Whelan

Having a 20 something year old woman call out to me in the street, 'Hello Brown Owl'.

All the winners have been contacted via Facebook. If you weren't lucky this time, we'll be starting our next tweet and seek competition over on our Twitter profile next week, more details coming soon. Our next Facebook competition will be launching in October - so watch out for that!

Be challenged by new experiences & achieve a sense of pride in accomplishment.
