Hello,

Welcome to the winter edition of YeSS! There's lots of fun guiding opportunities coming up - read on to find out more.

Please note that for some of the links you may need to log into the members' area.

What can I do?

Senior Section members aged 18 or older can become Trainers, and experiences such as In4ming, GOLD or Innovate can be counted towards the qualification. Join an 'Introduction to Training' weekend to find out more

There are many opportunities for young women to shape the future of guiding. Learn more about task and finish groups and other kinds of volunteering here.

Register for Roverway

Roverway is an international event for Guiding and Scouting members taking place in Finland from 20 to 28 July 2012. It's an amazing opportunity for 16- to 22-year-olds to make friends from across Europe and learn about a new culture. You have until 16 December 2011 to register. For more information visit the Roverway web page.

Think Big

Another 25 grants of £300 each are now up for grabs from Think Big, which awards Senior Section members grants for starting projects in their community, from starting youth groups to improving the local environment. Successful applicants will be offered training and support alongside the grant. Find out more and apply here.

Guiding magazine is online

Did you know that a digital version of guiding magazine is now available on the Senior Section website? You can access the latest news, features and activities in the autumn issue here.

The Centenary Fund

Is there something in guiding you'd love to do but have worries about funding? Girlguiding UK's Centenary Fund welcomes applications for grants. The 2012 criteria lists events and opportunities linked to the Olympic ideals and Cultural Olympiad, including sports, music and arts. It also covers international trips involving WAGGGS Member Organisations and UK events involving Members of WAGGGS. Find out more.

Together We Can

Do you want to make a difference? Together We Can, our resource based on the UN's Millennium Development Goals, enables members to help the world through advocacy, raising awareness of issues like malaria, and practical tasks such as growing your own food. Why not take up the challenge? Access the webpage here, and buy a copy from the online shop.

Settling in?

If you've just started university or moved to a different area there's plenty you can do to stay in touch with guiding. Ask your Leader for advice, contact Join Us on 0800 1 69 59 01 or by email for contacts in your new area. Girlguiding UK has also produced a resource that's full of useful tips.

Senior Section Scrapbook Set

There's a great offer available on this Senior Section scrapbook accessory set, which usually retails at £5.11 but is available until the end of November for just £2.50 (code 7789) here.
