The Look Wider programme is a great motivational tool for doing things
you've always thought about learn a language, volunteer, run a marathon, free camp in the wilds of Wales!
Cross-benefits in guiding
Other things you achieve as a Senior Section member can count towards Look Wider.
For example, if you are an In4mer, the sessions that you run can count towards Community Action.
If you're a Young Leader then by gaining your
Young Leader Qualification
you've achieved Phase 3 of the Leadership Octant.
Cross-benefits outside guiding
The work you put into your Phase 3 activities can be enough to achieve many external qualifications. For example:
- British Canoe Union qualifications
- Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts awards
- Grand National Archery qualification
- Amateur Swimming Association awards.
Glory!
Octant certificates are awarded for completing all the phases in an Octant.
The Chief Guide's Challenge is awarded when you've completed Phases
1 and 2 of all eight octants. You then get a certificate and metal badge that can be worn on your badge tab.
