Frequently asked questions

Can something I've done at school count towards Look Wider?

Only if its extra-curricular i.e., not part of mainstream schooling or lessons. For example:

  • Taking part in a debate on the Rights of a Child as part of the debate club meeting after school on a Wednesday counts towards Look Wider.
  • Taking part in a debate on the Rights of a Child as part of Social and Religious Studies does not count towards Look Wider.

Why are there certificates and not badges for completing the Octants in Look Wider?

Not all programme elements in guiding have badges attached. Also, many activities in Phase 3 of an Octant have their own awards or qualifications.
