Queen's Guide Award celebration events 2012
Visit the Queen's Guide Award page Queen’s Guide Award celebration at the House of LordsIn December 2011, 58 Queen’s Guides were welcomed to the celebrations by the Chief Guide, Gill Slocombe. She congratulated them on their fantastic achievement in gaining the Award. The Award broaches were presented by Baroness Royall in the afternoon and Baroness Smith in the evening. The Lord Speaker also attended part of the afternoon event and shared some words of encouragement. Baroness Royall is a Queen’s Guide herself and Baroness Smith is a former Brownie, so it was a great privilege for the Queen’s Guides to be able to meet and talk with them. ‘Doing the Queen’s Guide Award has pushed me to do things I wouldn’t have even thought about doing or thought I’d be able to do! I feel I have gained more confidence, become a more organised person and take more opportunities,’ said one recipient. A proud parent of a Queen’s Guide stated, ‘I felt very proud and privileged to be present to see my daughter receive her Queen’s Guide Award and also be in the presence of such talented young Leaders. It really is a success for Girlguiding UK and one I shall remember for ever.’ Congratulations to everyone who joined us for this celebration event. |
