Hints and tips
- Always use good quality paper and printing for your CV.
- If your CV is more than one page long, make sure your name is either in a header or a footer on every page.
- Put a face to the name consider putting your photograph on your CV via a scanned or digital image (top right or top left of the first page is usual). Make sure it is clear, and the print quality is good if you cant achieve both of those then dont do it, as it will have a negative effect.
- Dont make the font too small in an effort to keep everything on one page if the information you want to put on your CV is good quality information, and worth saying, then it is worth extending on to two pages. But dont send the employer a book either thats what the interview is for!
- Consider using paper that is a slightly different colour (cream is good) and slightly larger than A4. In a pile of papers on a desk, your cream CV will stand out, and if all the papers are shuffled and put together vertically, your CV will stand above the other A4 sheets.
- Be honest if you lie on your CV, and are then invited for an interview, it is highly likely that you will be found out. You are much less likely to get the job then as the employer wont believe you are trustworthy.
Finally, CV writing is all about competition. You are competing to get the employers attention and to convince them to give you that all important job interview. Guiding can and will make a positive contribution to your CV. Good luck!
