Pippa's blogFebruary 2009When I look over everything I've done this month I can't believe how busy I've been! I spent the first week of Feb re-evaluating my queens guide award and leadership. As it's centenary next year, I think it would be near on impossible to do both. So I've chosen to do my leadership Qualification and drop the QGA. If it wasn't such a massive year coming up for us to all celebrate I would still be doing both. On Valentines day my partner Duncan and I went to a lovely little pub/bnb place in Walkhampton, which is on Dartmoor. It was really lovely and relaxing. The food was great and time away from the kids was a blessing! In the morning we went to the local church, which was up a massive hill! Everyone there was really nice and kind and genuinely pleased to see new faces. The next important thing that springs to mind is that we had our Thinking Day ceremony on Plymouth Hoe. Well, I had a whole afternoon with the brownies, and also slept over with them in Abbey Hall, which is behind St Andrews church here in Plymouth. It was so tiring and I'm not sure I'll be doing it again for awhile! Seeing everyone together so early in the morning on Thinking Day was worth it though. It was a really lovely day. The last weekend in Feb I spent in the National Aquarium with my Guide unit and a few Rangers. It was so cool! We got to go around the aquarium when it was dark which was special. Then we visited the new 3D cinema which was the best bit, the chairs moved, we got squirted with water and air blown at us! Then we had a light supper and settled down to watch Kung-Fu Panda, what a great film! We also shared the space with a group of Cub and Beaver scouts, but we got to sleep somewhere else...underneath the sharks! truly awesome! In the morning we enrolled a couple of the new girls, and also Gemma (a Ranger) and myself renewed our promises in front of a really big fish tank. Today is the start of March, and I have an interview today for a place at college for an access course to University. I'll let you know how that goes in my next blog! |
