May 2009

At the start of this month, I had another practice walk for D of E in the Pentland Mountains. It was a lot of hard work and we did get a bit lost but we found our way out and it was a lot of fun even though for part of the walk, we were walking alongside a shooting range so we were terrified! My Brownies unit started their Change the World Project, they chose to do Kidscapes Dont be a bully, be my friend. They seem to be really enjoying the activities and they are listening for once!

Yet more D of E meetings came my way, this time to plan our first practice weekend. We decided to start at a random crossroads and walk to a campsite, spend the night and then continue onto Aberfoyle the next day. It looks a lot of work but it will be worth it, hopefully.

My last official day at school was the 13 of May. We had to go to classes in the morning but we were allowed a party in the afternoon! We decided to dress up in the afternoon but we couldnt decide on one theme for the whole year so we had 80s theme, beach theme, 80s beach theme, the 118 guys and some other random costumes. Me and my friends went for the 80s theme. The teachers organised a proper party and we were given certificates to say that we had completed 6 years of formal education. Although when my name was called my top got stuck to the chair so when I stood up, the chair came with me. Good times!

Then 8 days later, my exams started. I had Advanced Maths and Advanced French the day after. Maths could have gone better. A lot better. French wasnt too bad. Advanced Graphics was the Thursday after and it wasnt too bad either. I just hope a got a B, which is what I need to get into uni.

The 23rd and 24th were the Southside Festival which is a collection of stalls in one of our local parks. Glasgow county was given a stall for Change the World which me and my friend organised activities for for our Queens Guide. We had Brownies in the morning and Guides in the afternoon and my Brownies came along. We chose Book Aid as our charities so the Brownies decorated masks and played games with facts about different African countries and the Guides did similar activities. On the 29th, the Brownies had a sleepover in the church hall we use for meetings. It was a lot of fun except the fact that they would not go to sleep until 3am! Then I had to leave early the next morning because this was our D of E practice weekend. It is not easy to walk 15km with 3 hours sleep! The weekend overall was not easy but is was fun!

Next month I have my driving practical test, my school prom and Brownies Pack holiday!
