Katie's blogJanuary 2009January hasnt been that busy for me but the pressure for summer exams are starting to mount. Everyone is bugging us to revise and get coursework finished. There just doesnt seem to be any free time any more.
On the 10th I headed over to Knebworth were I was greeted with a very cold hut. Through the day I got to know the other girl that were going on the trip with me through team building exercises and craft activities. We also decided upon a design for the badge which just so happened to be mine. A few tweaks were needed but it was nice to know that everyone liked a design that I had come up with at gone midnight that morning. We also decided on hoodie ideas. We left the hut excited and happyNow all we have to do is get the money together. In terms of Council meetings it has been hectic. We have had one for the School Council which I joined with out even knowing some how, which was quite amusing when I found out. On the youth town council we are once again trying to tackle the problem of the roads in Tring they are awful and in places quite dangerous. As well as this we are finally getting our youth centre project off the ground now the asbestos has been removed. It should be a good place to go when we finished as it will have all sorts of things for the youth of Tring to do. Art room, computers, Wii, band area, caf and just a place to hang and get advice if you need it. However it maybe that I dont get to see the project all the way through as its my last year at school which could mean I wont be able to get to meetings if I got to Collage. I have now sent off my application for 6th form and Collage so finger crossed for summer. On the 23th me and my friend Laura left school early, after only doing two lessons in the day to speed off towards the motorway to meet a coach on its way down from Derby. After sitting on a comfy sofa eating lunch a lot of brownies appeared through the services doors along with my auntie, my friend who I jumped on as she didnt see me and a few other leaders I know from Derby for various reasons. After allowing them to stretch their legs and eat lunch we shoved our luggage in and climbed aboard. We safely made it to dover when our coach broke down fan belt had shredded, so we had to wait until that was fixed before boarding a later ferry. We spent almost all the time in the cold night air up on deck, just generally messing about. When we reached France all the lights went out inside the coach allowing the brownies to go to sleep and us if we want however none of us did fall asleep. We eventually arrived at our destination at 2am but didnt get to bed until 3ish as we stayed up eating noodles of all things (just a bit random). That morning we had to be up at 7am to collect breakfast before heading out to Disneyland. The 4 of us Me, My 2 friends and Emily. A leader, 2 young leaders and a guide. We headed straight over to space mountain which took 2 hours of our time, lunch and then we went on the terror drop (elevator drop). By the time we had finished we hung around for an hour waiting for the meet up time for planet Hollywood. It soon came but it was chaos as one of the brownies was being taken to hospital with stomach cramps (something to do with her diabetes). We got back at around 10 but that didnt end the day we had to get things ready for tomorrow so I went to babysit one cabin with one of my friends toddler and a few brownies in. Once that was sorted I head back to my own cabin and after messing about and talking for a number of hours it was 2am or something silly so we went to sleep. Getting up at 7 before heading on our way home to where my friend was greeted by some bad news leaving me to comfort her before having to head our separate ways home. To end the month brilliantly I headed over to Berko in a coach with another 11 people for the Youth council. We spent the evening doing team building activities as the two council work together closely. We were given pizzas before having fits of hysterics at the speed stacking for some unknown reasonwe were all a bit hyper. It was a great evening and was brilliant to see some people I hadnt seen in 4 or 5 months even if they only live a town over from us. Bring on next month :D |
