Katie's blog

February/March/April 2009

Ok so I realise I havent had a blog up since January and must apologise for this. It been as hectic as you can get around here. All my coursework has been handed in and marked and on the 12th May is my first exam which is seriously scary stuff seen as it one of the subjects I want to take on next year. Cross fingers!!!!

Since January

  • A Full Day of Work on Friends Website (1st Year it had been open) In which I helped interview the one and only Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter)
  • Started all the revision for my exams
  • Been to 3 council meeting
  • Had an Interview for one college and a school (still one to go)
  • Been put up for a youth award
  • Been on a theatre trip with school
  • Done a chocoholics fundraising for Belgium
  • Done Bag Packing for Belgium and Alesha Dixon turned up (is her local supermarket)
  • Done a Brownie Bring and Buy sale
  • Done a Stall at a local fate to fundraise for Division and Belgium
  • Been to county training day
  • Been to my best friends 16th
  • Had to go into school over half term for coursework
  • Seen My mum go in for an operation.
  • Made a Pen Pal (well email) in NZ (To do with Belgium)
  • And received the sad news that one of my friend who sadly was only 16 as hit by a car and killed.

There has been some really high points and sadly some really low points but I wont go into great detail about that.

As you can see its been a really hectic couple of months in one way or another. It was all kick started with a bang when I got to ask Matthew Lewis my very own question when I help interview him for website that I help on. It was the first year anniversary on February the 1st and for this we decide to have a big bang. With cast interviews, trivia role-plays and allsorts to get everyone on the website engaged. I been helping on Castle Whitefang (Harry Potter site) for around 8 months now and have been on it for over a year. However I was put into the management team in January or there about which means I have been given a bigger role and get to help with all of the exciting events that go on.

Anyways I asked:
Does it ever feel strange if people come up to you asking for autographs and pictures?

He Replied:
Yes, it really does. You get used to it a little bit but sometimes you still have to take a step back and ask yourself why? Its really an honour for me because Id acted since I was 5 and its all Ive ever wanted to do, but I never really thought I would get this far and so for people to want my autograph it gives me a great sense of achievement. Ive just got back from L.A. and I was bowling in Hollywood and the guy at the counter said youre Matthew Lewis arent you? and I was so confused because we were so far away from home. Nothing prepares you for that!

It was a real honour for me to talk to him even if it was face to face.

Council is starting to take off big time with its project. Not only has the hall started to be redeveloped for our youth centre, but we are planning training, re-vamping a skate park and setting up a new gig for the Texas students that will be over in Tring for summer break. So its all go. However one thing I am most honoured about is that they have asked me to stand for chair for the next 2 year (if I am able to get to the meeting which I cant guarantee at the moment). I was also put up for a youth award with them and guide so I backed out of the youth council side to allow one of the members the chance to be put forward.

I have done loads with guides in raising money and training. It been great funsampling chocolate, meeting Alesha Dixion and just generally chatting while doing all of it. Great fun and nice to make new friends. The pen friend well email friend is going to Belgium this summer and is coming over to England to see relative be for hopefully meeting up with me and my group at the Eurostar station in London.

My mum has been waiting an operation for about a year now and she finally had the operation to fix the macular hole in her eye. It did mean that she couldnt drive for several weeks which must have been weird for her as she is usually so busy. Let alone having to stare at the floor. Which no offence mum, was kinda funny to see when I had to lay down a look up to talk to her.

Anyways the last point I won't go into much detail but this was the reason I didnt get my last blog in as I was writing it when I got the news. Which you can imagine is quite a shock when you were talking to them only the day before. So as you can imagine I was very shocked and upset for quite a while and I decided to scrap the idea of writing the blog. However I am back on form now and I can't believe that my last day of school is fast approachingwriting this tomorrow is my last day of schoolSCARY!
