Katie

Hiya, I am Katie.

I am 15 years old and have just started year 11 at the local secondary school. This means that it my last year of school unless I choose otherwise (hopefully I will get into sixth form).

For my GCSEs I am studying Food Technology, History and Geography. I also study Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics (making up the triple science course), English Literature and Language, RE and ICT (half). The work can be quite challenging to fit in around various other activities I do through the week and over the weekend, but some how I get it done.

Within Girlguiding UK I am involved in helping at two units in Hertfordshire. They are 2nd Tring Brownies and 2nd Tring Guides.

We do all sorts with them, bowling, crafts, badges and just generally having lots of fun. We all get on and it nice to see some of the Brownies follow on into the Guide unit. This makes it easier for them as they already know someone so it doesn't feel so strange.

At Guides I look after a girl who has Downs-Syndrome. It can be a challenge and a big responsibility. At Brownies I help introduce the Brownies that join with small activity along with the 'Becoming a Brownie' booklets they fill in. I also arrange games and craft evenings for them. As well as guiding, I am involved with the local youth church group (@MEYG) and Tring Youth Town Council and archery. I occasionally get involved with the local Morris Dancing group over the weekends or holidays. It can be quite difficult fit everything in but I manage it (some how).
