Kat

Hiya, I'm Kat.

I'm 23 years old and live in Newcastle upon Tyne - for the most part anyway! I'm an Assistant Guide Leader, a Ranger and webmaster in Benton Division which is part of North Tyneside County. I'm also working on my Queen's Guide Award.

I say 'most of the time' I'm in Newcastle because at the moment I'm away at University in Middlesbrough doing the final year of my degree. I'm studying BA Web Design which is brilliant fun! It gives me the perfect excuse to play around on computers all day making things in graphics programmes like Photoshop whilst I try to get my head around creating fancy websites and games using Flash. There aren't many of us girls on the course so we all tend to stick together to help each other out - and put the boys in their place. ;)

When I'm not studying there's loads of things I enjoy doing. One of my new favourite activities is Geocaching which is basically 'treasure hunting' (sorry, no pots of gold at the end!) using GPS. One of our Ranger leaders did a training course and took our Rangers out - I've been hooked since and am nearing my first 100 caches found. I also enjoy photography, reading, graphic design, music, playing with any new gadgets I can get my hands on, and of course, Guiding!

I'm really looking forward to the Centenary as it'll be my final full year as a Senior Section member and will be the end of an amazing time of my life which has included (so far, anyway) participating in World Camp at Foxlease in 1999, an international camp in Canada in 2000, trips to France and Switzerland, being on Security Staff at Norjam in 2006 (along with 2 fellow Rangers) and so much more!
