HelenHi I'm Helen I'm 19 years old and I am currently taking a gap year before going to Nottingham university in September to study Nursing. I am a Ranger and pre-warrant leader at a Brownie unit and a combined Brownie and Guide unit which keeps me on my toes! I am currently working towards my Leadership Qualification which I've nearly finished and my Queens Guide Award- I have 8 months left, and it's gone so quickly. I have also been lucky enough to be selected for a GOLD trip this summer to Chile which is really exciting and I would urge anyone who wants a challenge to apply for INTOPS. I am currently doing agency work for the NHS but in January I went to Kenya for a month to work in a hospital and then I have Chile in July/August. I also have planned by Queens Guide expedition at some point in the summer. Some of my hobbies include church bell ringing- much harder than it looks! and scrapbooking which is a great way to present my many photos from trips. I also play the trumpet although unfortunately not so much now since I have left school but hopefully I'll get back into it when I'm at University. I am also in training for the Cancer Research Moonwalk. This is a power walked marathon or 1/2 marathon through London at night wearing a decorated bra. I will be doing the 1/2 marathon with my friend but I am training for the whole marathon with my work colleagues. I'm really looking forward to the Centenary and have lots or plans- theres so much choice for a 'Mountain Top Moment' I'm on my county Centenary committee and we're planning the service at Canterbury Cathedral which is exciting and really interesting to see how an event like this comes together. Hopefully you'll enjoy reading about what I will be getting up to during the year, especially Chile. |
