November 2008

I think Ive spent most of this month asleep.
Or shopping. Ive certainly done a lot of that.
This month was punctuated by meetings and adventures, and its been pretty cool, but far too tiring.
Ive been so busy, Ive almost neglected our Guides, but Ive managed to make one meeting where we did something about Remembrance Day, and made a big crepe paper poppy display for the Scout and Guide Hut. Our Guides is on a Monday night, which is often the night Im finishing an essay for my Tuesday English Lit. lesson, but the Leadership team is really supportive.

November 13th was the night of my last ever Parents Evening. It went quite well, although I was at work until later than I thought I would be and caught my French teacher just as she was leaving, and my mother spent an extra ten minutes talking to my English Lit. teachers about what an excellent cook my little brother is. Had a good chat about this year, because Im doing a lot of retakes, and since then theyve been pretty understanding. I had glandular fever this summer, and was ill for several months, which meant I couldnt take my AS exams, and Ive been tired all the time since, but its great how good everyones being about it.

Saturday 15th I drove my best friend up to the NEC in Birmingham for his 18th birthday present, seeing Kanye West live. It was an amazing show. The warm up acts were pretty good too - Santogold was his biggest support act, and Ive seen her twice now.

In contrast, earlier in the afternoon that day Id been at our Girlguiding Worcestershire County Training Day, where I did a session on the Changing the World initiative. I got some good ideas for things to do for the project, which weve yet to start in my units.
The following week I jumped on a coach and made my way into London for a university interview at University College London. I love London and I really, really want to go to UCL. It was fun being around other language students like myself, and I made some friends and had a giggle as well as doing the interview, which I think went quite well, but well see. I havent heard back yet, so fingers crossed.

Last Sunday I went to Bristol with one of my best friends to meet up with a guiding friend wed met in the summer. We spent far too much money in Cabot Circus in Bristol, which, by the way, was fantastic for shopping! Havent started my Christmas shopping yet, but me and my friends are doing a Secret Santa, so it shouldnt be too extravagant, but its always fun buying people presents.

Next week at Rangers were going bowling, partly to celebrate Sophias selection shes going to the world Centre Sangam in India in 2010 for the centenary! One of my best friends is also going, and while Im planning a Gap year completely abroad, I think I can justify a little jealousy, as Sangams meant to be amazing.
