Caroline's blogFebruary 2009Id been looking forward to February for months, quite literally. February got off to a great start, with two snow days where I live. Wed been watching the rest of the country have time off and when it finally came to us, it gave me a lovely extension on an essay! Snow is an excellent excuse to be a child, my friends and I met up for a huge snowball fight, before warming up with some tea, then going out to build a snowman before getting a lunch at the local pub. The evening was spent in a friends hot tub hot tubbing in the snow is something everyone should do, honest! The second snow day was spent perfecting the art of snowman building. At Rangers we spent an hour creating some shelters out of cardboard boxes and newspaper to (sort of) follow our Changing the World project, with Crisis. We followed it with some cheesy chips, which might be less relevant, but it wouldnt be Rangers without eating! February is always about Valentines Day, whether we like it or not. My sixth form runs a service where you can send roses to people, and I and some friends collaborated to send my friend, who is the biggest Valentines Scrooge ever, five separate roses. It was excellent fun, and he really warmed up to the idea after a bit. Even if youve not got a significant other Valentines can be a fun excuse to treat your friends. I spent Valentines with my boyfriend and lots of popcorn watching The Mexican. I think it was quite impressive I managed to get Brad Pitt involved with my Valentines Day! I spent all of half term, and another few days in Bordeaux, France. I was staying with a French friend who I get on really well with, and hopefully improving my French by being totally immersed in French life 24/7. I made some good friends, and truly, Bordeaux is a really amazing city. Its so chic and laid back, with fantastic, cheap transport and a great night life. BDX is the place to be, and I might head back there sometime in my Gap year. Terminal 5 is really cool, by the way. (Just thought that was slightly relevant.) My friends from 6th form and I have been planning a holiday away before we go to university/off around the world. The ideas started in Spain, but with a limited budget and Reading Festival tickets to buy, weve settled on a break to Dublin so we can get out of the country, but not go too far. Ive spent the last week looking into ferry prices and hostels, and its all getting quite exciting. |
