I'm a Trefoil Guild member!

Emily SonnexMeet Emily. She's a member of the Acorn Trefoil Guild.

What does your role involve?

As a member of the Trefoil Guild, we meet once a month to discuss what we would like to do. We recently held an afternoon tea event for the other Trefoil Guilds in the area, we also enjoy helping at local Guiding events. We have attended a county Trefoil Guild beetle drive-which was good fun! Our meetings often involve food and plenty of gossip.

What do you love most about guiding?

There are so many different opportunities available in Guiding. If you can think of something you would like to do, theres likely to be an opportunity to do it! I love that Guiding gives me a voice and also the confidence to use it. And of course all of the new friends I have made - international and non-international.

What guiding achievement are you most proud of?

Completing my Queens Guide award - the highest award you can achieve in Guiding. I was so close to giving up, as I was struggling to balance university, work and Guiding but I persevered and in the end it was all worth it. I also had many people who were available to help me and give me the encouragement I needed sometimes.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about becoming a Senior Section member and taking on your role?

Do it! Being a Senior Section member who belongs to a Trefoil Guild allows you to mix with people of different ages. Talking to the other Trefoil Guilds about what Guiding used to be like when they were Guides can be really interesting but there are plenty of younger people involved too. Being a member of a Trefoil Guild you don't have any of the stress of having Rainbows, Brownies or Guides around.
If there are no Trefoil Guilds in your area, why not set one up? There are probably plenty of Senior Section members willing to join.
