Volunteer with Girlguiding UK
Girlguiding UK depends on the generosity of its volunteers to
maintain guiding at a local level and enable places for all of the
girls and young women who would like to get involved. There are
currently around 45,000 girls of all ages on waiting-to-join lists,
which means that we need about 7,000 more volunteers. Do you think
you could you help?
What you can do
Volunteering in guiding is flexible and you don’t even need to
volunteer at your daughter’s unit. If she is of Brownie age, you
could volunteer in the local Guide unit and support girls moving up
to the next section.
Volunteers can also give valuable time in behind-the-scenes
roles such as administration, PR, shopping for the unit, accounts
or assisting with trips. Many units run a parents’ rota to help
share the tasks available.
Any time that you are able to give will be a huge help in
keeping guiding going for the girls and young women who want to
join. Through volunteering you can also gain new skills in
leadership and team work, boost your CV and make new friends.
