Young Women's World Forum 2011

The Young Women’s World Forum (YWWF) will see 200 Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from 85 countries across the world come together and help change the world!  The Forum is taking place from 20 - 26 March at all four Guiding World Centres simultaneously - Our Cabana in Mexico, Sangam in India, Our Chalet in Switzerland and Pax Lodge in London.

The YWWF 2011 is the second in a series of events which are part of the global centenary celebrations of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting, showcasing the centenary theme of “100 years of changing lives.”  Delegates will be discussing the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), including combating global crises such as hunger and poverty, gender inequality and climate change. They will then make recommendations and an action plans for enacting change and lobbying on a local, national and global level.

Girlguiding UK has three delegates taking part and you can find out more about what they are doing, including news, blog updates, profiles of the young women and videos and photos throughout the week, by visiting the WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) website.  There are also some great suggestions for getting involved even if you are not at the forum, including how you can take action on the MDGs.

Be challenged by new experiences & achieve a sense of pride in accomplishment.
