World Thinking Day 2011

Guiding and Scouting members at the World Thinking Day serviceWorld Thinking Day 2011 was marked by a service at Westminster Abbey to remember the founders of Guiding and Scouting, with parties from both Girlguiding UK and The Scout Association in attendance.

The Evensong service, led by John Hall, the Dean of Westminster, was dedicated to Girlguiding UK and The Scout Association. Wreaths were then laid at the memorials of Robert Baden-Powell, founder of Guiding and Scouting, and his wife, the former World Chief Guide Olave Baden-Powell.

The Chief Guide representative, Nicola Grinstead, led a delegation of 14 girls and young women from the Westminster Division of the London and South East England Region (LaSER) at the service.

World Thinking Day is celebrated each year on 22 February, the birthdays of both the Lord and Lady Baden-Powell.
