World Board election result
Congratulations to Girlguiding UK volunteer Nicola
Grinstead, who has been elected to the World Board of the World
Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
Nicola recently completed her term of office as an elected member
of Girlguiding UK's Executive Committee and has been involved in
guiding since starting Brownies aged seven.
'I am thrilled and delighted to be elected - I am passionate
about supporting girls worldwide to fulfil their potential and hope
I can use my skills and experience to make this a reality for more
and more girls,' said Nicola.
The World Board - which is made up of 17 elected women from across
the globe, all members of their national organisation - governs
WAGGGS, ensuring that Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting develops
policies in line with the WAGGGS strategic plan agreed at the World
Conference every three years.
The election took place this morning at the World Conference in
Edinburgh. Other successful candidates included: Jill Zelmanovits,
from Canada; Teruko Wada, Japan; Shaleeka Abeygunasekera, Sri
Lanka; Fiona Harnett, New Zealand and Michelle February, South
Africa.
