World Board election result

Congratulations to Girlguiding UK volunteer Nicola Grinstead, who has been elected to the World Board of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

Nicola recently completed her term of office as an elected member of Girlguiding UK's Executive Committee and has been involved in guiding since starting Brownies aged seven.

'I am thrilled and delighted to be elected - I am passionate about supporting girls worldwide to fulfil their potential and hope I can use my skills and experience to make this a reality for more and more girls,' said Nicola.

The World Board - which is made up of 17 elected women from across the globe, all members of their national organisation - governs WAGGGS, ensuring that Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting develops policies in line with the WAGGGS strategic plan agreed at the World Conference every three years.

The election took place this morning at the World Conference in Edinburgh. Other successful candidates included: Jill Zelmanovits, from Canada; Teruko Wada, Japan; Shaleeka Abeygunasekera, Sri Lanka; Fiona Harnett, New Zealand and Michelle February, South Africa.

Be challenged by new experiences & achieve a sense of pride in accomplishment.
