Roverway 2012 begins

Almost 4,000 Guides and Scouts from 50 countries
are heading to Finland today in preparation for the
international camp Roverway 2012.
The event, which runs from 20-28 July, is organised jointly by the
World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and the
World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
Some of the 98 members of the UK Contingent are going
over as part of the International Service Team (IST) to help run
the event.
It is open to 16- to 22-year-olds, who will each enjoy a four-day
path – consisting of a hike or event under themes of art and
culture, challenge, nature or society – in the country followed by
a mass camp with everything from all-night cafes to unusual
activities such as saw-playing.
Previous Roverway events have been held in Portugal, Italy and
Iceland.
