Members meet the Chancellor of the Exchequer

Three Senior Section members have received fundraising advice from the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Hope, Georgia and Beca, all 16, are looking to raise £2,500 each so that they can cover the costs of attending a leadership programme in India.

The girls, from Knutsford and Goostrey Senior Section, contacted George Osborne, who is also MP for Tatton, in the hope that he could offer guidance or sponsorship for their trip next year.

‘We were very shocked when he asked to meet with us. The meeting went really well, we were put at ease straight away and had a good conversation with George about what we are doing on our trip and good ways to raise money,’ Hope said.

‘It was really inspiring to meet three youngsters who want to use their time to help some of the most disadvantaged people and put something back into the world,’ said Mr Osborne.

'I have sponsored Hope, Georgia and Beca to raise money for this good cause and I hope other local people will do this too,' he added.
