Members help at Cycletta

Volunteers from Girlguiding Cheshire
Border and Girlguiding Cheshire Forest have assisted at a
female-only cycling event which was visited by gold medal-winning
Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton.
The Girlguiding members helped with marshalling, registration
and other tasks for Cycletta Cheshire, for which 800
participants rode around a course at Tatton Park,
Cheshire.
‘It had been fun to be involved and see all the different women
achieving a 25km or 40km course and especially good to meet
Victoria Pendleton,’ said Ellie Hodgson, a Ranger with Congleton
West and Young Leader with 3rd Congleton Brownies.
The Girlguiding Cheshire Border website reported that Victoria
thanked the guiding members for being involved with Cycletta and
spoke of the fun and adventure she enjoyed when she was in guiding
herself. She revealed that during her guiding life she was a
Brownie, Guide - completing her Baden-Powell Award - and then
Ranger, while her mother was a Brownie Leader.
Victoria told the group that she enjoyed activities like kayaking
and achieved her BCU 2star award. She concluded that she felt
it prepared her well for all her efforts in cycling and to achieve
Olympic success.
