Guiding on television

On Monday the BBC broadcasted a programme based on Janie Hampton's book ‘How the Girl Guides won the war’. It will be available to watch online at BBC iPlayer until 12 October.

The show focussed on the impact guiding had on the war effort and featured interviews with Janie as well as former Guide Lucy Pendar, who shared her memories of the war. The 3rd Headington Guides also took part in the construction of a blitz oven under Lucy's instructions.

It was filmed at Girlguiding Oxfordshire's residential centre Jubilee House last May, and forms part of the BBC Two series ‘How we won the war’.
