Leader given prestigious Scout award
Congratulations to Christine Haddock, who is one of
the few Girlguiding UK members to be given the prestigious Chief
Scout’s Commendation for Good Service Award.
Christine received the accolade in recognition of her
contribution in helping to plan and deliver the 22nd World Scout
Jamboree, which took place in Sweden from 27 July to 7
August.
‘I knew nothing about it and it came as a complete
surprise,’ says Christine, Leader, 1st Bridge of Weir Guides,
Renfrewshire.
‘It’s not often that I am left lost for words! As a member
of Girlguiding UK I was absolutely chuffed to bits to get
this.’
She was a member of the Jamboree’s UK Contingent Management
Team, and was presented with her award at the final review weekend
for the Jamboree Management and Support Teams.
The Jamboree was attended by over 40,000 Guiding and Scouting
members, including a UK Contingent of 4,285 (the largest ever to
attend an overseas Jamboree) with nearly 300 of those from
Girlguiding UK.
