4th Gerrards Cross Guides are our first ever Unit Cam unit! They opened on 5 June 2007 with 18 girls so they're very new - something they're all rather proud of. Here's what they had to tell us about themselves.

What's the best thing about being a Guide?

  • Doing things I wouldn't normally have a chance to do – Eve, 11
  • Seeing my friends – Grace, 10
  • Making new friends – Sammy, 11

What's the best thing about boys not being around?

  • We don't get into arguments as much and it is not noisy! – Joanna, 10
  • Some boys think they're better than girls so it's good not having boys being leaders all the time – Sophie, 11
  • We can talk about them without them knowing! – Elle, 11

What's your favourite unit activity or game?

  • Cats Rats Rubbish! It's like North South East West and the last person to get to the right wall is out - Sophie, 11
  • Making S'mores (marshmallows) over tea lights - Jade, 10

What's the craziest or funnist thing that's happened in your unit?

  • In a game a girl sat on a chair and it broke (she laughed too!) - Eve, 11
  • Learning the second verse of the National Anthem with our Young Leaders doing actions so we could remember it! - Charlie, 11
  • Fund-raising facials! - Emily P, 10
  • We had to make a tower out of straws to get a creme egg as high off the floor as we could - Jade, 10

What has your unit done that you're most proud of?

What are your Leaders like?

  • They're funny and have good ideas of things to do - Sophie, 11
  • They are superb! - Alice, 10
  • The Adult Leaders are very caring and in touch with the things we want to do and the Young Leaders are very funny and talk to us a lot - Lucy, 12

What would your unit's theme song be and why?

  • 'We are family' - because Guides are a big family - Charlie, 10
  • The version of 'We will rock you' that we created at our Guide camp - Alice, 10
  • 'We are the Champions' because even if we lose we don't worry and we cheer all our teams on and we are all champions in what we do - Lucy, 12
