GFF supports Guides in Russia and Nicaragua
In May 2009 the Guide Friendship Fund (GFF) Committee
decided to contribute £6,500 from the GFF to projects in
Russia and Nicaragua. The decision was based on a scoring system
that takes into account how much the project will benefit local and
national guiding, girls and young women, and the local
community.
'Grow RADS': £5,000 awarded
The Russian Association of Girl Scouts (RADS) was awarded £5,000
for its Grow RADS project. The aim is to develop projects and
programmes to help solve problems in the local community and to
equip girls and Leaders with the skills to develop and carry out
the projects.
By the end of Grow RADS, 14 projects and programmes will
have been developed and will receive financial support to help put
them into action. Also, 28 girls and young women will have
developed the skills to create socially-important projects.
National Training Network in Nicaragua: £1,500 awarded
Asociación Nacional de Muchachas Guías de Nicaragua plans to
recruit a network of Trainers. They will be given monthly training
by distance learning, supported by face-to-face sessions
every three months. After six months, the Trainers will
run monthly trainings for Leaders in their regions for a further
six months.
Girlguiding UK is seeking £3,654 to support the project. It
hopes to select ten future Trainers and 20 Leaders who will be
integrated into the training process. The project aims to create
distance learning processes that are dynamic, attractive and
cost-effective.
