Centenary Fund
Girlguiding UK celebrates 100 years of making girls’ dreams come
true!
That's 100 years of:
- giving girls and women opportunities to come together
- to develop skills and confidence
- and build better communities.
It's a significant achievement, and what better way to
celebrate this than by taking forward Olave Baden-Powell’s vision
to ‘give a girl a dream’ and creating a new fund for guiding -
the Centenary Fund.
What is the Centenary Fund and why donate to it?
The
Centenary Fund enables individual girls and young women to
participate in something otherwise not available to them.
So that we can help fund a larger number of young women and a
variety of projects, we will be changing the funding priorities
from time to time. Our current priority is enabling girls and young
women to participate in an 'adventure'.
In order for us to be able to make grants to as many girls as
possible, we need you to donate to the Centenary Fund. Your gift
will go directly towards the grants we give to girls.
Read case studies from grants that have been
awarded.
In an interview with guiding magazine,
Charlotte Hawkins, presenter of the Sky News breakfast show
Sunrise and a former Brownie and Guide, shared
her thoughts on the benefits of guiding: ‘Guiding is
such a good grounding for life. It helps develop you as a person,
gives you a good moral compass and helps you see goals through to
the end.’
How your donation can help
Your gift will help provide girls and young women with amazing
opportunities and experiences throughout the Centenary and the
next 100 years.
Every donation received for the Centenary Fund will go directly
towards making girls’ dreams come true. Here are a few
examples of how your gift could help:
- £10 could pay for activities at a Rainbow’s (Girlguiding UK's
youngest section) first sleepover
- £50 could enable a young woman to have her first taste of
politics by attending a youth participation seminar
- £100 could pay for a Guide to go on a local camp, which she
would otherwise not have been able to afford.
Make a donation
The long-term success of the Centenary Fund will depend on the
generous financial contributions of our members and other
supporters. Only with your help can we ensure that as many girls as
possible can access these grants in years to
come.
Making regular donations by direct debit will help us to plan for
the future. You can also make a one-off gift by credit or debit
card.
You can donate online through the Girlguiding
