A set of songs were written for members of Girlguiding UK to learn and perform. Members were encouraged to seek sponsorship for their performance or hold a water related fundraising event.

Sing for Change

31,480 members took part in Sing for Change, raising a staggering £130,217 to take 8,681 people out of water poverty in Nepal. By learning and performing songs to audiences, our girls raised vital funds for WaterAid that will go to providing access to a lasting supply of safe water, sanitation and lifesaving hygiene education for some of the poorest people in Nepal. In addition 26,119 members raised awareness in their local community of water poverty around the world.

The 15th Halifax Holy Trinity Brownies took on the challenge of learning four songs in five weeks. Brownie Georgia loved doing the project, ‘It was amazing when Havishima, Lou, Ren and Hannah held each other’s shoulder and sung. It was good raising £93.50 and was a fun evening.’

Leader Pamela Berry enthused ‘I have been a member of Girlguiding UK since 1984 and I can truly say that Sing For Change is one of my ‘guiding highlights’. I think I have been waiting the past 45 years for something’s good as this to arrive!’
