Members were asked to explore what it means to be a girl in the UK versus a girl in the developing world. This was done using photography and then hosting an exhibition.

Because I am a Girl - take a photo, make a difference

9,649 members completed Because I am a girl: Take a photo, make a difference, taking photos and creating exhibitions around the UK. 228 exhibitions to raise awareness were held across the UK with 6,370 people attending. The photo exhibitions made a difference and raised over £28,289 to fund 550 school places for girls in Liberia. Furthermore, a national Exhibition of some of our members' best photography artworks was held in the Association of Photographers Gallery, London, in October 2009!

The 1st Tey Rainbows took part in Because I am a girl: Take a Photo make a difference - use it and raised £60 through an exhibition of their work. The girls were asked what their favourite part of the project was and most said that they were really pleased to be able to make such a magnificent donation so that Fatima can go to school.
