How to take part
- Take a look at the NDCS Hands up! website.
- Download appropriate resources and use activities in your meeting place.
- Set a fundraising target and use the activity ideas to help you reach it.
- Make your unit deaf friendly and learn to sign the promise.
- Send any funds raised to NDCS.
How is this project unique?
The NDCS have built a unique website as well as a host of activities exclusively for Girlguiding UK members. You can learn sign language and sign along to a fantastic pop song and learn to sign the promises. You can even enter the Listening Bus design competition and see your design come to life.
Things to think about?
Are you creative? This project aims to inspire you to reach your target however you choose.
All of the activities in the Hands up! project can be carried out in your regular meeting.

Raising awareness to ensure everyone learns about deafness and how to be deaf friendly.
Taking action by making your unit deaf friendly and learning to sign the promise.
Raising money to fund the NDCS listening bus for one year.
What you need to know
The Hands up! resource is available to download from the Hands up! website. You can find a mixture of deaf awareness resources, video clips and advice to help you with your fundraising.
All of the activities in the NDCS Hands up! project can be carried out during regular meeting times.
