Guides and Senior Section members were encouraged to raise money to fund much needed research into why bullying among girls is so common.

The Friendship Challenge

8,428 members took part in The Friendship Challenge to stop bullying and unhealthy friendships among girls. 5,693 girls took direct action and made friendship pledges, and a further 6,213 members raised awareness of bullying and unhealthy friendships in their wider community. Girls also held friendship parties and designed and sold their own friendship jewellery, raising a total of £15,626 to fund vital research into why girls bully other girls.

The 2nd Highams Park Guides enjoyed creating jewellery and came up with some unusual designs! They finished with a masked friendship ball which the Guides paid to come to and brought a friend, raising a total of £86.50. However, the highlight of their project was making a 'friends' post-it board and one girl wrote 'a good friend is like a bra - close to your heart and gives you support.'
